What to do when caught in a lift breakdown?

Seraph

I remember this topic being brought up a few weeks ago during lunch with my colleagues, what do we do when the lift breaks down and starts to free fall? There were suggestions to climb out of the lift, jump before the lift impacts, and other imaginative ideas. However I doubt any of those would actually work, then I received an email with tips on how to survive a lift breakdown, read the following and see if it’s the best way or just another wise idea.

First – Quickly press all the different levels of buttons in the lift. When the emergency electricity supply is being activated, it will stop the lift from falling further.

Second – Hold on tight to the handle (if there is any).. It is to support your position and prevent you from falling or getting hurt when you lost your balance.

Third – Lean your back and head against the wall forming a straight line. Leaning against the wall is to use it as a support for your back/spine as protection.

Fourth – Bend your knees. Ligament is a flexible, connective tissue. Thus, the impact of fractured bones will be minimised during fall.

Anyone has more concrete facts on the matter don’t hesitate to post your comments below.

雪人 – 郭采潔 & 盧學叡

Seraph

Would like to share this nice song with everyone, it’s a duet entitled Snow Man, there are a few different versions sang by different artists, though I found this version that was embeddable, which is good as well, there’s another version sang by 范晓萱 and 王力宏 as well which seems to be the more widely available version. Enjoy the song, lyrics are there for you to sing along if you wish.

作詞:許常德
作曲:季忠平

好冷 雪已經積得那麼深
Merry Christmas to you 我深愛的人
好冷 整個冬天在你家門

Are you my snowman?

Merry Christmas to you 我深愛的人
好冷 整個冬天在你家門

Are you my snowman?
我癡癡癡癡地等

(合)
雪 一片一片一片一片 拼出你我的緣份
我的愛因你而生 你的手摸出我的心疼

Batman Arkham Asylum 2

Fans of Batman and the more recent Batman Arkham Asylum game will be pleased to know that a sequel is in the making. From the ending sequence of Batman Arkham Asylum, we clearly see that there are loose ends to the story, which I assume this sequel will tie up. Not much is known other than a trailer, but you can register for more Batman Arkham Asylum 2 updates on the Arkham Has Moved site. Now sit back and enjoy the trailer:

GEORGE TOWN: The year-end party mood in Penang has set in with chingay troupe members busy honing their skills in balancing the towering flag poles for the annual performance this Sunday.

Although there will not be any competition following the controversial contest last year, the 10 teams taking part in the event promise to give their best.

Penangites have a reason to party and rejoice this year’s parade following George Town’s listing as a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Sunday’s parade will start at Datuk Keramat’s Padang Brown at 7.30pm and pass through Datuk Keramat Road, Penang Road, Burma Road, Transfer Road, Sri Bahari Road, Chulia Street, Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling and Light Street before ending at the Esplanade at 8.30pm.

It will be followed by a three-hour cultural performance there.

Caught rehearsing in front of the historic City Hall at Esplanade on Wednesday was the North Malaysia Chingay Association which is sending the biggest team.

Its chief coach Lee Kok Keong said the members had been training throughout the year to sharpen their skills in balancing the flag poles weighing some 15kg each.

The members performed stunts like tossing the pole with their feet, catching it with their chins or foreheads, and balancing the pole while walking.

The organisers decided to hold the parade on a Sunday at the request of many groups who complained about traffic jams in George Town in past years on Christmas Day due to the event.

Most Penangites look forward to the parade which marks the start of the year-end party as the mood will continue right up to the New Year countdown.

Penang Esplanade picked as venue for National Cub Prix final round
PETALING JAYA: The Penang Esplanade is back as a venue of a motor-racing event – the final round of the Petronas AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championships from Dec 19-20.

The event promoters, Safe Aim Mutual Sdn Bhd (SAM), have also changed the dates for the penultimate round of the 10-leg championships, from Nov 14-15 to Dec 5-6.

Promotions director Ron Hogg said that the changes were made in the interest of the Cub Prix contingent.

“The ninth round was initially planned for the second week of November but we pushed the date forward to December in the Sepang South Circuit. Therefore, the final round has to be moved to the third week of December, the week before Christmas.”

Ron added that it would not be such a bad timing to run the race in Penang as it was a perfect venue to draw the curtains on the season in conjunction with the Penang Pesta.

“Penang, as a historic location, would be the perfect site to end this year’s Cub Prix Championships — making it a one of a kind race, unlike any other,” he said.

“We expect the final round to draw a massive crowd, both locals and tourists. Furthermore, it is the school holidays and just around the corner for Christmas and New Year.”

Ron added that it would be the first time that the Cub Prix races will be held on the island.

“We have organised races all over Malaysia, including Sabah and Sarawak. It will be the first on an island and we are all looking forward to it. I believe the teams, riders and fans will feel the same way too,” he said.

The Ultimate Weapon

Seraph

Being a fighting game fan, one needs a weapon worthy of the fight. I’m lucky to have got my hands on one of these babies, may I present to you my Ultimate Weapon: Madcatz Fight Stick TE Collector’s Edition! It was quite hard to find one in our local stores, although it was pricey, bought it at RM680, I’d say I have no regrets.

Ever wondered why men likes looking at the female breasts? Maybe it’s just genetic, a gender response and need, an unresistible attraction, or whatever reason you can think of, here’s another reason you can add to your list of ‘reasons/excuses’ the next time you are caught staring at someone’s breasts.

101 uses for a Woman

Seraph

Ok so you’ve read about the 101 uses for a man, the men have cooked up a similar list for the ladies as well, again courtesy of Times Online and you can find the original article here. 101 uses or not, I think we’d still love you, and yes it’s an unfair world (to men of course) and women always complain that they’re being treated unfairly.

  1. Finding at least one thing about your appearance worth complimenting (“I’ve always loved your … earlobes”).
  2. Finding at least one thing about your new haircut worth criticising.
  3. Lending you (often without knowing it) moisturiser.
  4. Keeping Darfur on the agenda by being interested in what George Clooney is up to.
  5. Employing, through her retail habits, tens of thousands of children in the developing world.
  6. Leaving lots of little bits of ground apricot kernel in the bath after her weekly exfoliation.
  7. Never being too embarrassed to dance with you, despite your two left feet.
  8. Compensating for your lack of colour co-ordination (they know the colours that go — and the ones that don’t).
  9. Answering all the boy-band questions in the pub pop quiz.
  10. Remembering the birthdays Continue reading
